A giant funnel functions as a symbolic megaphone, telescope and recurring design element that draws visitors of the Salzburg State Exhibition 2016 into the Salzburg Museum’s Neue Residenz. The diverse art and cultural history of the State of Salzburg is conveyed in an exciting tour through fourteen rooms, each with its own theme, setting and atmosphere. Over fifteen hundred exhibits, historical art treasures from the collection, valuable international loans and works by contemporary artists are displayed within the 1500 m2 space.
A modular showcase system of black cubes combined with glass elements forms the basis of the exhibition architecture. Subdued light, muted colors and soft fabrics create a dim, haptic ambiance that accentuate the preciousness and sensitivity of the works. Multimedia stations offer points of interaction for the visitors.
