Profil series
Grand Garage
2019

The PROFIL upholstered furniture series was designed for part of the new use of the tobacco factory in Linz (1929-1935). This industrial facility, designed by Peter Behrens and Alexander Popp, is considered Austria’s first steel skeleton building in the New Objectivity style. The model for the PROFIL series is the LC2 armchair by Le Corbusier, who worked in Behrens’ architectural office, among others.

As with the skeleton construction, the supporting structure can be produced and assembled independently of the upholstery. In addition, the PROFIL series deals with the reduction of new components and is built from existing steel profiles, which are used for heavy-duty shelving in warehouses. These profiles are powder-coated and upholstered in fabric or leather.
