Stille Nacht Museum Hallein
Exhibitiondesign
2018
Celebrating two hundred years of “Silent Night” was the occasion to redesign the Silent Night Museum in Hallein. As the former home of composer Franz Xaver Gruber, many originals can be found there, alongside his final resting place. In a bright exhibition, documents, instruments and everyday objects are presented without obstructing the view of his former living quarters. Round platforms specially designed for the objects are freely distributed in the room, equipped with integrated spots and drawers. Large lighting elements positioned above focus the stations of the composer‘s life into free standing cones of light. As a design intervention, only the famous lyrics are directly connected to the building, where they are highlighted tone-in-tone on the walls. A special room with a children’s station and a living archive invites viewers to delve in deeper and stay a little longer.
